1. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ARGUMENT AGAINST THE PRODUCTION OF FUR?
To be honest, I have thought about this and I can't find anything against the production of fur. Even though I work with fur, I am also a woman and love to wear fur. It is difficult to answer as I only know the arguments against fur from media and I don't agree with those.

2. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ARGUMENT IN FAVOUR OF FUR PRODUCTION?
I am a business woman and if my client would like to wear fur, why should I not sell it? When we use animals, the most important thing is transparency and to be open about the production. Here the horsemeat scandal can be an example as the problem was not that the meat was from horses but that consumers didn't know that. It is always a very interesting debate. There are so many consumers who love fur; why not let them wear fur. The fur brings a very special feeling.

3. IN WHICH WAYS CAN FUR ADD VALUE TO EUROPEAN FASHION?
Fur adds value to the fashion industry by creating a lot of jobs in some parts of Europe. Also fur as a fabric adds something extra to fashion as it is luxurious, different and fairly exclusive.

4. WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION SHOULD BE ON THE LABEL OF FUR PRODUCTS?
It is important that there's a certification for the consumer. Transparency is essential so a label should contain information about production circumstances and information on the animal welfare.

5. SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES HAVE DECIDED TO BAN FUR FARMING. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THIS?
I don't think that it is a good idea. If EU countries ban fur farming, the industry will move to countries where animal welfare might not be imposed as well as in Europe. This way the EU countries disregard their responsibility.

6. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE THE MAIN ISSUES TO CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING IF ANIMAL USE IS ETHICALLY DEFENSIBLE OR NOT?
It is always the most important thing that the animals are treated well. It has also always been natural for human beings to use animals in order to survive or to protect themselves. The Inuit society is a good example of this. There are always products from animals, just look at the bees and the flowers, so instead of not using the animals, we should focus on the welfare and well-being of the animals.

7. IN YOUR VIEW, IS THERE AN ETHICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BREEDING ANIMALS FOR THEIR FUR AND BREEDING ANIMALS FOR THEIR MEAT?
I cannot see a difference between these two. Some people say that people need meat to survive and not fur - however, we do not actually need meat to survive so there is no difference. Also, meat is consumed once but fur can be consumed forever, which makes fur a more sustainable product.

8. WHAT ADVICE WILL YOU GIVE TO THE EUROPEAN FUR SECTOR?
Transparency is absolutely the most important thing. People who like fur become unsure due to wrong information. Some animal rights organizations would be helped by good information from the fur sector. John Keats once said: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever". This definitely applies for fur.
